- The Invisible Gorilla: Reading this book will make you less sure of yourself—and that’s a good thing. In The Invisible Gorilla, Christopher Chabris and Daniel Simons, creators of one of psychology’s most famous experiments, use remarkable stories and counterintuitive scientific findings to demonstrate an important truth: Our minds don’t work the way we think they do. We think we see ourselves and the world as they really are, but we’re actually missing a whole lot.
- Selective Attention Test: The original, world-famous awareness test from Daniel Simons and Christopher Chabris, authors of The Invisible Gorilla. In training, we discuss personal perception and the how one’s perception plays a key role in determining the level to which one will be in crisis following a critical incident. We show the brilliant “Monkey Business Illusion” clip in class to generate discussion about attention and perception.
- Movie Perception Test – Conversation: A movie perception test by Daniel Levin & Daniel Simons. The video is a well-known demonstration of the phenomenon of change blindness: people fail to notice large changes to scenes when those changes occur during a brief disruption like a film cut.
- TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out in 1984 as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader.
