What is a Community Crisis Collaborative ?
A community crisis collaborative is a community-driven, response network that includes (but not limited to):
- First responders / emergency responders
- Chaplains / clergy / lay ministers
- Victims’ advocates
- Educators / school social workers
- Medical and mental health professionals
- Clergy and lay-ministers (churches / faith organizations)
We consider these professionals vital stakeholders because they are:
(1) more likely to come in contact with people in crisis
(2) expected to respond
This works best when agencies / organizations ban together to share resources, train together, coordinate response and evaluate outcomes.
Benefits for your Community
- Team of organized responders providing immediate intervention to people in crisis
- Shared policy and protocols reduce risk and liability for all involved
- Connection to – and actively networking with – community resources
- Professional training for all team members ensures effective response
- Employees – and communities – experience increased positivity and pride for agencies / organizations that actively demonstrate compassion, care and support
Benefits to your Agency / Organization
- Shared responsibilities ensures your agency / organization will not carry all the weight and run risk of burnout / compassion fatigue
- Pool resources and split costs of training, supplies, etc.
- Organizations that actively demonstrate care and support for their employees report higher rates of satisfaction, loyalty, resilience, performance and cooperation
- Capitalize on your investment by developing your own agency peer support program and/or crisis response team
