Bobby Smith was a Louisiana State Trooper when a traffic stop changed his life forever. The suspect he stopped, pulled a shotgun out and shot Bobby in the face. Bobby lost his sight and his ability to do the job he loved so much.
Bobby went on and earned his PhD in psychology and has been a speaker and trainer since. The book describes the event but mainly challenges the law enforcement community to openly communicate about the mental well-being of themselves and their families.
This book should be required reading for every officer in the training academy. Bobby hits the nail right on the head. If cadets read this book they might be able to address their mental health problems before they manifest and start causing problems.
