People in the helping-profession are driven to help. Ask any nurse, social worker, educator, firefighter, chaplain, etc. why they are in the profession they are in…and you will hear some form of: “I like to help people.”
We know that delivering “help” isn’t limited to professionals; but those in positions know there is a difference between a helping-profession and a helping-hobby. The difference is effectiveness. Helping professionals are not only motivated to help, but recieve training and practice to enhance their skills in order to be effective.
Those professionals that work with individuals and groups in crisis must also be effective. These Crisis Responders must receive training, education and opportunities to practice and enhance their skills in crisis intervention.
Crisis Support Solutions is dedicated to enhancing the skills of those working in crisis to the point that the Responder feels CAPABLE to respond to any crisis. We are working to create a “culture of capable” – helping professionals capable of responding to the immediate needs of those in crisis.
Keys to “Capable”:
- Knowing the language – terms and definitions
- Knowing the reactions of those in crisis
- Knowing how to accurately assess and triage
- Knowing how to approach and address in ways that lower the stress response
- Knowing how to strategically plan interventions that effectively lower the stress response
- and more…
Know matter what call comes in, we want you to feel capable in any crisis. If you are interested in becoming “crisis capable” – visit our training pageand email training@crisissupportsolutions.com to discuss more.
